NT: Woman stabs man with syringe in Darwin

DARWIN, Feb 12 AAP - A woman stabbed a shift-worker with a syringe after he refused
her request for money in Darwin early today, police said.

The 30-year-old had gone outside the shopping complex where he worked when he was approached
by a woman in her 40s who asked him for a cigarette, a police spokesman said.

The woman then asked the man for money as he attempted to re-enter his workplace, and he refused.

The woman then stabbed the man in the right forearm with the needle, he said.

The man was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital before later being released.

It was not yet known if the syringe was filled with any substance, the spokesman said.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the incident, or the woman, who is described
as caucasian, of skinny build with straight dark brown hair, to contact them.
