--Bitkom sees 55% growth in cloud computing for 2011

1 March 2011 - Germany's Federal Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media Bitkom expects that cloud computing business with corporate and private clients will grow by 55% on the year to EUR3.5bn in 2011.
According to Bitkom President August-Wilhelm Scheer, cloud computing will fundamentally change not only corporate structures, but also the professional and private life of people in the foreseeable future. Private users already frequently use cloud services such as flickr, amazon, online games, social networks etc.

In addition, more than 50% of German software providers intend to generate 10% of their sales through cloud services this year, Scheer said.

Bitkom further projects that the cloud computing market will grow to EUR8.2bn in 2015.
