tw telecom Wins Five-Year Contract to Provide Data, Internet and Voice Services to U.S. Air Force Base.

tw telecom (NASDAQ: TWTC), a leading provider of managed voice, Internet and data networking solutions for businesses, announced that it has been selected by the U.S. Air Force to install and manage data, Internet and voice services at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

tw telecom won the five-year contract, valued at approximately $1 million, through a competitive bid process that evaluated technical compliance, past performance and proposed costs. Installation of the services will be complete by October 31, 2009.

"With slightly more than 20,000 military personnel, Lackland Air Force Base is a vital asset to both the military and the city of San Antonio," said Dolly Holmes, vice president and general manager for tw telecom in San Antonio. "We're proud that when evaluating quality, reliability, and cost, the Air Force's competitive bid process determined that tw telecom's solution was the best. We look forward to helping Lackland Air Force Base continue to serve our nation."

Lackland Air Force Base is home to the 37th Training Wing, the largest training wing in the U.S. Air Force. The 37th TRW provides basic military, professional and technical skills, and English language training for the Air Force, other military services, government agencies, and allies. Its four primary training functions graduate more than 86,000 students annually. The wing also provides quality operating support to more than 70 tenant and associate units.

tw telecom connects more commercial buildings to its fiber network than any other competitive communications provider, only exceeded by the large global incumbents. In fact, it has the third highest market share of retail Ethernet ports in service. With its own national fiber network and IP backbone, tw telecom has the national capability, robust product portfolio and national/local customer care teams to support mission critical enterprise applications and to deliver the industry's most sought after customer experience.
